Shake, Shake, Shake

Good Morning! How was your weekend? There is no "weekend" for nurses, but I do look forward to my time off, especially to spend with all of you and creating cards! My card today is a shaker card. They are so interactive and everyone loves to shake them and see the movement. Here it is:

The first time I made a shaker card, I was totally intimidated. But when I realized it's just a series of building steps, it didn't seem like such a mammoth undertaking. I'll try to help you with this in my instructions.

Step 1 Adhere designer paper to the So Saffron panel. Adhere the Peekaboo Peach ribbon about mid-way, then wrap Linen thread around the ribbon three times. Secure the ends of the thread on the back with regular tape. Adhere this group to the front of an Early Espresso card base.

Step 2 Stamp the Peekaboo Peach square several times, using the leaf stamp from Timeless Textures. I stamped off each time (using Peekaboo Peach Ink) to mute the image. Using the largest flower die from the May Flowers Framelits, cut the middle out of the Peekaboo Peach square. Keep the flower outline after you've cleaned it up. Using a sponge dauber and Calypso Coral ink, sponge around all sides of the square.

Step 3 Turn over the Peach square and put lines of adhesive close to the edge of all four sides. Place the window sheet piece, making sure it covers all the open edges of the cut out flower. Take the flower cutout, turn it over and , using a sponge wedge and Tombow liquid glue, put a thin layer of glue on the flower back. Using tweezers, align the flower with the cutout on the top of the window sheet and press into place. Now put lines of foam adhesive strips around back of the flower cut out, which is now covered by the window sheet, making sure all the ends are tight together to prevent sequin leakage.

Step 4 Now get the So Saffron square and use glue dots to place 3 or 4 of the largest sequins in a stationary position. You may need to "roll" them to make them small enough. Get a scoop of the Sprinkles Embellishment mix ( about a 1/4 teaspoon) and place it on the center of your So Saffron Square. Peel the back off the adhesive strips on the Peach square, center it on the Saffron square and put it down. Press all around the edges, making sure you get good adhesion. Shake to make sure everything stays in place.

Congratulations! You've just made a shaker! Woohoo!

I added a sentiment to the bottom and used one strip of the foam adhesive to the bottom edge so it would lay on the So Saffron layer. Just sort of tuck it in. For the inside, I stamped the leaf from Timeless Textures several times after stamping off twice so the image wouldn't interfere with whatever I'd like to write on it.

I hope you enjoyed this card! I really enjoyed sharing it with you.
